**GST Slabs in India**
GST is levied at four main rates:
- **5%** — Essential goods, economy class air travel, transport services
- **12%** — Processed food, computers, business class air travel
- **18%** — Most services, electronics, FMCG products, restaurants (non-AC)
- **28%** — Luxury goods, SUVs, tobacco, aerated drinks, casinos
**0% GST (Exempt):** Fresh food, educational services, healthcare, exports.
**How to Add GST to a Price**
If you know the base price (exclusive of GST) and want the final price:
GST Amount = Base Price × (GST Rate / 100)
Final Price = Base Price + GST Amount
Example: Base price ₹1,000, GST 18%
GST = 1,000 × 0.18 = ₹180
Final price = ₹1,180
**How to Remove GST from a Price**
If you have the GST-inclusive price and want the base price:
Base Price = GST-Inclusive Price / (1 + GST Rate / 100)
GST Amount = GST-Inclusive Price – Base Price
Example: GST-inclusive price ₹1,180, GST 18%
Base price = 1,180 / 1.18 = ₹1,000
GST amount = ₹180
**CGST and SGST Split**
For intra-state transactions, GST is split equally:
- CGST = GST Rate / 2
- SGST = GST Rate / 2
For inter-state transactions, the full rate applies as IGST.
