IP Address Lookup
Find geolocation, ISP, and network details for any IP address. Detects your own IP automatically.

How It Works
Your current IP address is detected automatically. Enter any IPv4 or IPv6 address to look up its country, city, region, timezone, ISP, and network organization. Data is fetched from a public geolocation API.
IP address lookup tools reveal the geolocation and network information associated with any IP address. This is useful for network debugging, security analysis, understanding web traffic origins, and detecting VPN or proxy usage.
**What is an IP Address?**
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a numerical label assigned to every device connected to a network. IPv4 addresses use the format 192.168.1.1 (four octets, 0–255). IPv6 addresses use a longer hexadecimal format (e.g., 2001:0db8:85a3::8a2e:0370:7334).
**What Information Does an IP Reveal?**
An IP address lookup can reveal:
- **Country, region, and city** (approximate location — not exact)
- **ISP (Internet Service Provider)**: the company providing the internet connection
- **Organization**: the business or institution that owns the IP block
- **Timezone**: the timezone associated with the location
- **ASN (Autonomous System Number)**: network routing identifier
- **Connection type**: residential, business, mobile, hosting, VPN
**How Accurate is IP Geolocation?**
Country-level accuracy is typically 95–99%. City-level accuracy is 50–75%. The precise street address of a user cannot be determined from an IP address. VPNs, proxies, and Tor obscure the true location.
**Privacy Implications**
Your IP address is shared with every website you visit. It is not considered personally identifiable information (PII) in most jurisdictions, but combined with other data it can contribute to identifying a user. Using a VPN masks your real IP.
**Use Cases**
- Network troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Security: identifying suspicious login locations
- Blocking access from specific countries (geo-restriction)
- Analytics: understanding website visitor geography
- Fraud prevention: detecting inconsistent IP/billing address locations
**Privacy of This Tool**
This tool sends the queried IP to a third-party geolocation API (ipapi.co). Only the IP address itself is transmitted — no other user data.
